To apply to adopt one of our K9 friends, you may fill out an online application by clicking here. We do reference checks and home visits, and prefer and sometimes insist on fenced yards for our companion dogs. Please remember that these furkids have come from all kinds of situations, not all of them good ones, and so they may have their own "baggage", so to speak. We recommend obedience classes to all new adopters of our dogs. This not only ensures a well-mannered dog, but helps in the bonding process. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL WE WILL ADOPT ANY OF OUR DOGS TO ANYONE WISHING TO KEEP THEM AS "OUTSIDE" DOGS! Our dogs are family companions and should be treated as such.

Hi, my name is Vegas! I am a sweet young boy and will be turning the big 4 in December! I look like a minature Black Lab ! Not sure what I am mixed with, but my body is long and I have short legs! Maybe a little Basset along with some Jack Russell Terrier??!! I am a wonderful boy according to my foster mommy. But I was not treated so well in my former home. I have been around a baby and a teenager and do just fine....the teenager is the one who was not very nice to me though. :`-( I am house trained and have good manners. I am currently in a house full of dogs and doing just fine getting to know them. I'm really friendly and I love to be close to people and get affection, although I am a little timid at first until I get to know you. I want to and will make someone an absolutely awesome companion! My foster mommy says I am not only gorgeous but am a very loyal little guy! Please give me a chance and see how wonderful I am! I promise you won't regret it!

Adopting a friend
It is easy to want a dog. It is easy to love a dog. But it takes time and commitment to have a dog in your home. Please do not take adoption lightly. It is a lifetime commitment for the life of the pet.
Our adoption area is limited to a 150 mile radius or a 3 hour drive from the Quad City area. There are exceptions, but they are rare. Our adoption fee is $175.
Surrendering a Dog
We do take in owner surrenders. However, the dog must be up to date on all vaccinations, altered, heartworm negative, and free from internal and external parasites. We do not require a fee for you to surrender your companion dog to us. Please email debbie@k9kindnessrescue.org for more information!
